Spectroscopy of Single Biomolecular Nanoparticles
Spectroscopy of Single Biomolecular Nanoparticles
Welcome to the Carpenter Group! Established in August 2024, we are a new lab at The Ohio State University investigating the structural and molecular dynamics of biomolecular nanoparticles. These objects are increasingly important as tools in medicine and energy science, but many existing measurements obscure their underlying richness. To study these nanoparticles, we will primarily use optical techniques from single-molecule and time-resolved spectroscopy to gain access to their variability and unique dynamics.
Our work will draw from various disciplines. We are in the Physical Division of the OSU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, but we also have strong overlap with Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry. As well, we are a member of the OSU Biophysics Training Program, the Molecular Biophysics Training Program, and the Institute for Optical Science. As a new lab, we are eagerly seeking potential students and postdocs who want to examine complex molecular systems using a broad set of tools from spectroscopy and microscopy. If this sounds like you, please reach out to us!
