Memo’s research career started in ultrafast aqueous spectroscopy, first in the Saykally Group as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley. As a graduate student in the Tokmakoff Group at UChicago (PhD 2020), Memo developed two-dimensional infrared (2DIR) spectroscopy experiments to study the structures and dynamics of the common but mysterious aqueous proton H+(aq). Memo then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in the Moerner Lab at Stanford. There, he employed single-molecule microscopy to monitor biological nanocontainers in a solution-phase anti-Brownian trap. Memo’s new lab at OSU will develop single-molecule spectroscopy methods to study the fascinating dynamical properties of soft nanoparticles.
